The romantic, emotional vibes of So Far Away has proved to be another major hit for the powerhouse pairing of Martin Garrix and David Guetta, with over 30 million plays on YouTube and Spotify alone in less than three weeks and radio domination the world over. Its beautiful vocals and melodies deserved a serious remix package, and this two-part series really does justice to it. This first part serves as the perfect round-off to 2017, with the upcoming part two set to usher in the new year.
First up is Blinders – who had one of the best club records of 2017 with his track ‘Snakecharmer’ on STMPD RCRDS – with a supremely rowdy house version of the original that pitches the sweetness of the original against monstrous bass squelches and manic riffs.
The progressive king Nicky Romero, who is no stranger to remixing Garrix, delivers nearly six minutes of teasingly anthemic beauty, slowing the vocals down even more.
The mysterious BLR, goes for a deep, hypnotic workout that recalls classic progressive trance with its throbbing low end and subtle, twinkling riffs. Up next is a Dutch duo from Utrecht, TV Noise, long-time industry friends of Martin Garrix who also collaborated with him on ‘Just Some Loops’ back in 2013. It’s not hard to see why when they unleash their punchy beats and fizzing, intensely euphoric chopped-up leads for this remix pack.
CLiQ finishes the package off with a classy, understated house mix with bubbling bass and gently shimmering beats, perfect for those warm-up moments or late-night dance radio alike.
